DSFL 6 Week 4 Recap

Only three dynasty teams end the first month of DSFL play unbeaten

Only the 2010’s Chiefs, 2010’s Seahawks, and 2010’s Saints survived the first month of the DSFL 6 season without a loss. All of the historic dynasties of the 1900’s were knocked out at least once over their first four games. Who knows if this is a trend? Either way, it is hard to believe that any of those teams won’t advance to the DSFL 6 postseason.

Here’s a recap at the marquee games from week 4 action:

1940’s Browns WR Dub Jones (#86) reels in 3 passes for 86 yards at Dallas. The offense played well in week 4, but not good enough to defeat the 1990’s Cowboys.

Box Score

Arlington, TX - The 1990’s Cowboys have a knack for late game dramatics. One week removed from their gut-wrenching loss at Seattle, America’s Team wins the week 4 game against Cleveland with under two minutes remaining in regulation.

The Browns’ Ken Carpenter catches a goal-line pass from Otto Graham with 3:12 to go in the 4th quarter. Then the Dallas offensive line paved the way for a game-clinching drive as they lead Emmitt Smith and Troy Aikman to consecutive first downs to ice it.

The 90’s Cowboys ran for a season-high 159 yards in the win and enjoy 1st place out of the NFC East with a tie against (3-1) 40’s Philadelphia. Those two teams will meet for the first time this season at Lincoln Financial Field for week 8.

1990’s Broncos CB Darrien Gordon (#23) wins player of the game honors as he picks off Joe Namath twice in the week 4 win at Met Life Stadium.

90’s Broncos 27, 60’s Jets 16

Box Score

East Rutherford, NJ - Darrien Gordon holds the franchise record for most interceptions in a single playoff run with five.

In the week 4 contest at the 1960’s Jets, the former Stanford Cardinal turned the clocks back to 1998 with his 2 Interception, 3 Pass Deflection performance in the comeback win. The winless Broncos were down 9-0 before he picked off Joe Namath for the first time, early in the 3rd quarter.

That interception sparked a furious rally over the next 9 minutes as Denver scores 24 unanswered points to put the hapless Jets down and out. The DSFL Broncos have beaten the Jets all three times that they have played.

Both teams are now 1-3.

Up Next:

The DSFL Jets have never made the postseason. In season five, 2009 New York won just one game. The 1960’s Jets hope to pick up their second win of the year in a week 5 home game against the 2010’s Cardinals.

The 1990’s Cowboys (3-1) play host to the 1980’s Giants (2-2) in their first NFC East matchup of the year. This will be the 5th all-time DSFL meeting between the two teams.
