DSFL 6 Week 14 Recap
2010’s Seahawks crawl back into the playoff picture with their comeback win.
As the DSFL 6 enters the regular season home-stretch, the 2000’s Rams and 2010’s Seahawks significantly improved their playoff stock with their week 14 wins.
Seattle QB Russell Wilson (#3) earns his second consecutive NFC Offensive Player of the Week award fresh off his week 14 performance against New York.
10’s Seahawks 25, 60’s Jets 22
Seattle, WA - Russell Wilson was brilliant. 21-of-29 (72%), 231 yards, 3 total touchdowns. But this was a game that the Jets gave away.
The 1960’s Jets (4-9) are out of the playoff picture and their mistakes against Seattle is typical of what this season has been for them. New York gained 400 yards; however, they also only scored 13 points on their FIVE red zone drives (1 TD, 2 FG, 2 empty trips). When you combine those red zone miscues with a crucial 4th quarter fumble from running back Emerson Boozer, Seattle was given a chance to win the game.
And Russell Wilson delivered, driving the offense the length of the field in 1 minute and 37 seconds to win the game.
The Seahawks quarterback may never win a league MVP award in either real life or the Dream Season Football League. However, the future Hall of Famer demonstrates again what makes him, arguably, the greatest Seahawk of all time.
If it wasn’t for the Rams win, Seattle would be tied for 1st in the NFC West.
The 2000’s Rams defense beats up on the Patriots in their week 14 blowout in Los Angeles.
00’s Rams 32, 10’s Patriots 10
Los Angeles, CA - Led by defensive end Kevin Carter (4 Tack, TFL, 2.5 Sacks), St. Louis frustrates Tom Brady and the 2010’s Patriots in a 32-10 beatdown.
The win gave St. Louis a playoff birth (the first team to official clinch a spot in the DSFL 6 playoffs). Pittsburgh and Indianapolis technically clinched a playoff birth over the same week but they didn’t have the luxury of playing on DSFL 6 Radio for week 14.
St. Louis took a page out of the 2007 Giants playbook by sacking Tom Brady 4 times (including a 3rd quarter safety) and hit him over a dozen times. Wide receiver Isaac Bruce earned a player of the game award, but the defense as a whole was the difference in the game.
Other Wk 14 Notables:
Lance Alworth jumped back into the top 3 list of receiving yards in the DSFL 6. With 3 receptions for 166 yards and 2 TDs, he overwhelmed the 2010’s Falcons in Los Angeles.
The 2000’s Colts (9-4) and 1970’s Steelers have both clinched playoff spots with their week 14 wins.
