The 1970’s Steelers are crumbling at the worst time, losing two straight.

After their 17-10 loss to the hapless Bengals, Pittsburgh coughed up a double-digit lead at home

Lets take a look at the two marquee games from week 16:

Box Score

Pittsburgh, PA - Terry Bradshaw threw a 14 yard touchdown pass to tight end Bennie Cunningham with 2:01 remaining in the 3rd quarter. That score gave the 1970’s Steelers a 20-13 lead. Over the game’s final 10 minutes, the offense wasn’t just bad…it was horrible. 0 first downs over its final 3 possessions. That was just bad enough to allow the 2000’s Colts to score on its final 3 drives, including a walk-off 19 yard field goal from Adam Vinatieri. Indianapolis wins the game and now holds the tiebreaker for the #2 seed in the AFC.

The Steelers defense was also a major disappointment. The league’s second best total defense (through 14 games) allowed 400 yards and 22 first downs in the game. Indianapolis was also 9-of-16 on 3rd downs. The 2000’s Colts will finish the DSFL 6 season as a top 3 seed. If the Colts beat Jacksonville next week, then they could clinch the 1 seed if New England loses their week 17 home game against the 1960’s Jets.

Jeff Robinson (#45) gets crushed by 2010’s Seahawks safety Earl Thomas, losing the fumble that sealed the game.

Box Score

Seattle, WA - In week 10 at Los Angeles, the 2000’s Rams dynasty beat this Seattle team with a 14-point comeback. Russell Wilson and company bested that performance with a 17-point comeback win at Century Link Field.

The 2010’s Seahawks fell behind 17-0 early in the 2nd quarter courtesy of a defense that looked overwhelmed early in the game. The defense settled in and so did Russell Wilson. The Seahawks quarterback scored 2 rushing touchdowns to pull the team in front then safety Earl Thomas drills Rams tight end Jeff Robinson, separating him from the ball. That was St. Louis’ only turnover and it finished the game. All three phases for Seattle outplayed their division rival. It was an incredible comeback and it changes everything.

While Seattle hasn’t clinched the playoffs yet, it is safe to assume that they will make it and have a favorable round 1 matchup. Just 3 weeks ago, Seattle was out of the playoff picture. Now, they are the 1-seed in the NFC. Meanwhile, the 2000’s Rams have lost back-to-back games and have dropped to the 6-seed. Week 17 will determine everything.
