DSFL 7: Week 3 Recap

Quarterbacks are starting to find their rhythm this season

Joe Montana was pure entertainment at the Vikings.

However, Montana was just one of five quarterbacks who threw for 3+ TDs in a passing explosion.

Let’s check out the three best games from week 3.

2007 Patriots humbled in home defeat

Foxboro, MA - Stephen Gostkowski was the only Patriot to score. His field goals in the 1st and 3rd
quarters kept New England alive. But with 38 seconds to go and the Patriots down 1, he would miss
his shortest attempt of the game and cost New England a chance to stay undefeated. The high
powered Patriots were held to a lowly 215 yards in the stunning defeat.

Joe Montana shreds the hopeless Vikings defense

Minneapolis, MN - San Francisco scored on 6 of their first 8 offensive drives. Joe Montana led the
historic performance with a QB rating of 142.5. Ironically, Randall Cunningham had him beat in that
category with a 147.9 QB rating. Plenty of offense between these two teams, but Montana’s 49ers
were just a little bit better in the road win.

Newton outduels Aikman in Monday Night thriller

Arlington, TX - Cam Newton’s performance at Dallas is a microcosm of who he is as a player. In the
2nd half, he throws two bone-head interceptions to Issiac Holt and the Cowboys come back to tie
the game. But the quarterback shows resolve and wins the game for Carolina with a 69 yard
touchdown pass to Corey Brown. And while it wasn’t pretty, Newton’s Panthers win again, 28-21.
